B.K.S Iyengar (B.1918-2014), a yoga master from Pune India, has touched millions of lives through his approach to yoga. He introduced the use of props to adapt yoga for students with varying abilities, to assist with alignment and understanding. His daughter Geeta Iyengar, son, Prashant Iyengar as well as granddaughter Abhijata Iyengar, are devoted practitioners of this tradition and continue to refine and educate these teachings among the many senior teachers who have devoted decades under the Iyengar’s instruction.
Iyengar yoga is a transformative, intelligent, dynamic practice that supports practitioners with building a solid foundation. Sanskrit names of postures (asanas) are introduced in classes for improved understanding of their purpose and function.
